Breaking: INEC chairman meets with Nigeria’s former heads of state Read more

 

Following the postponement of the 2019 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the electoral chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, is right now meeting with Nigeria’s former heads of state, to address concerns regarding the development. The commission had fixed a stakeholders meeting for 2pm on Saturday, February 16, at the National Collation Centre in Abuja, but it was gathered that the stakeholders’s meeting could not immediately begin because it coincide with the meeting with former heads of state.

Photo credit: Legit.ng Source: UGC Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison climbed the podium to apologise to the stakeholders for starting the event late. Osaze-Ozie added that the INEC chairman and officials of the commission is still in a meeting with key stakeholders and former heads of state and presidents. He said: “The chairman and national commissioners would have been here, but they are currently meeting with former Heads of state. But they will soon be here.” Read more:
